| To share the wealth
of stories with our
teachers and how
to bring them alive
in the classroom,
Longman held the
first-ever
Storytelling Conference in Hong
Kong from 29-30 May
2005 at Sheraton
Hotel, and invited
two professional
storytellers Karen
Tovell and Roger
Jenkins, to be the
keynote speakers.
Karen Tovell is a
storyteller and storymaker
with over two decades
of storytelling experience.
Roger Jenkins, who
has been storytelling
since 1998, is the
Artistic Director
of Dramaplus Arts
in Singapore.
Over the two-day
conference, Karen
and Roger shared
their practical
experience and
techniques with
over 200 teachers
from about 110
schools at four
workshops: Stories
Alive: Storytelling
with Children,
Stories into Drama,
Storytelling as
a Teaching Strategy
and Stories Galore:
Storymaking with
Children.
All teachers unanimously
agreed that the
Conference enhanced
their professional
development. Let's
share some of the
encouraging feedback
by them and photos
from this conference.
